It is now just over a week to our
cruising event so I am setting out a provisional programme.
Sunday
Our club Dayboat open so after arrival, lunch and a summary of the
week’s events I propose a short afternoon sail to test the water!!!
Pottery Pier and back would be an ideal start to our week.
Monday
Round the Harbour Islands. Bramble Bush Beach for picnic or café
lunch then a short cruise beyond the chain ferry or return sail
north of Brownsea Island or through Blood Alley, as time and weather
permit.
Tuesday
Depending on weather, sail directly to Studland Beach, or Bramble
Bush again, to review our options. If Studland, café lunch and
afternoon sail towards Old Harry Rocks then back to PYC.
Wednesday
Cruise up river to Wareham. This is both an interesting and
challenging sail. Once beyond the channel buoys it is necessary to
stay within the port and starboard marked stakes. Power craft and
yachts under power, have in general, right of way, due to
constraints of draught. Well worth the effort and lunch and a pint
as reward.
Thursday
BBQ day. The 2005 cruisers will remember John who once again has
agreed to host. Not sure where yet, probably Arne Beach, (fantastic
viewing platform), or Arne up river towards Rockley. Afternoon sail
perhaps to Rockley for ice cream or if Arne, behind Round Island
Pottery Pier and back to PYC.
Friday
I would like to land on Brownsea Island for tea, South Steps, if
possible. Morning general sail within the Harbour.
This entire programme is of course
interchangeable and will depend on weather conditions and what
everyone would like to do. Bramble Bush Beach is a favourite
stopover of mine and a good staging point for the various options we
have.
I look forward to seeing you all
soon.
